Is it a good time to invest or should I wait?

First off, I’m not new to this subreddit and I know I’ve already triggered a lot of people with my title but I didn’t know what else to put lol. I am in my early 20s and refuse to let my money sit and lose value in my checking account, so I plan to move a very good portion of it into a new investment portfolio I’ve just created. I do have some experience trading casually over the past few years since 2020 on RH (which admittedly didn’t go too well), so I’m starting fresh with a more reliable brokerage. I hear over and over the saying “time in the market is better than timing the market”, but considering we are newly in an official market recession, would it be dumb to move this much money over into investments with the current short term outlook? I don’t plan to just forcefully spend it all at once into “safer” long term growth plays like SPY considering im already max contributing to a Roth IRA for that, but it’s also not something I’m going to spend hours every day analyzing for scalp plays and things of that matter. Just hoping to get some feedback from random people on the internet to bounce ideas off of, any advice Is appreciated
