To clarify, I just impluse bought 56 shares of the company this morning after doing very minimal research.
After studying the price chart very briefly, I personally found the stock intriguing. Following its chart on Google (past 5 years), it dropped from roughly $35.71 per share in May 14, 2021, to about $10 per share today, September 25, 2023.
I found out (according to wikipedia) that Gap Inc. operates alongside with at least 3 different companies, which include Banana Republic, Old Navy, and Athleta. (All under a parent company which controls them all, named: the Fisher family)
“Gap Inc. is the largest specialty retailer in the United States, and is 3rd in total international locations, behind Inditex Group and H&M.” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gap_Inc.))
Gap Inc. “in 2022 generated over $15 billion in revenue”, and “is primarily owned by the Fisher family, heirs of Donald George Fisher, who co-founded The Gap Inc. with his wife Doris F.” (https://fourweekmba.com/who-owns-gap/)
Lets discuss why or why not my buy was a good idea!
