I’ve been seeing stock prices drop like flies over the last year because of inflation and now banks are losing value with their investments. Are ETFs still a safe form of investment? I have a bunch of money sitting in my TFSA for almost a year now and I’m hoping to reinvest it, but I’m sort of suffering from investment paralysis in light of the negative news. I’ve heard the phrase “best time to invest was yesterday, the next best time is today”, but I think the volatility in the market has me hesitant to invest with the imminent recession if we’re not already there. At the same time, I don’t want to lose my opportunity to grow my future retirement (assuming we’re all around and still alive in a few years).
Canadian here, so the context is probably a bit different for the U.S., but want to hear your thoughts and ways to get around this investment paralysis I’m in.
