Investing in Stocks like Berkshire (BRK-B), Markel (MKL) or Danaher (DNH) vs. Index ETFs?

Hi,

I am a passive Index Investor (90% in MSCI World ETF and 10% in QQQ and some Dividend Champions) but recently I read alot about Holding Companys/Conglomerates like Markel, Danaher Or of course Berkshire…the most well known of them all.

Do you guys have any opinion on these three companies and their future outlooks in comparison to the broader market? They seem to be kind of like an index fund but without the fees.

Especially Berkshire and Markel seem to do very good in times like these….maybe it is worth a Try to invest in this companies rather than the SP500 or the World Index?

Thoughts and arguments would be appreciated!
