I have a fairly diversified portfolio over a few decades now. But I’ve never had any other assets like real estate. I’ve always wanted to own real estate in NYC and although I could afford a down payment it would probably clean me out (not to mention significant capital gains for what I’d have to sell to get there). Was just doing some research and found SLG a Manhattan real estate REIT.
The yield is over 7% and it seems to be at a 5 year low right now. I see they’ve missed their earnings and have had some leasing trouble. Maybe a good time to put about 7% of my portfolio in?
Any thoughts? Advice? I’m 40yo btw
