Investing Competition at School Advice

Hello! One of the groups I'm in is starting another virtual investing competition via MarketWatch Investing Simulator. I managed to win the previous competition after a wild ride.

I made some cheap moves by shorting voltile penny stocks which isn't really possible in real life. I'm hoping to take a more realistic approach this time. The competition lasts for about 2 months. We have $100,000 with an additional $100,000 in margin so a goal of $200,000 buying power. Short selling is enabled.

Does anyone have tips? My current plan is to buy a leveraged bear etf or short the SP500 and Nasdaq as I feel like the market won't go up in September but I'm not sure.

Any advice? Thanks!
