For those of you who were investing when the original iPhone came out, what made it so special? I was thinking about the metaverse and what it could potentially lead to in the future and I started thinking about Apple. They say the iPhone is what changed things for the company. Were any of you thinking “it’s just a phone, I’m not buying shares of a company based on that product.” We know it lead to the popularity of the iPad, Apple Music, AirPods, Apple TV, etc. and it’s easy to realize in hindsight that the company has done a great job with innovation for nearly two decades. I know there’s a lot of negative sentiment about the metaverse but being how social media also helped to largely shape the iPhone and other products, such as advertising, this leads to my next question. What do you think the metaverse could lead to in a couple decades? I was thinking about concerts and being able to watch one from home with the headset and headphones. Being able to do a 360 and see other “avatars” and the performers, making it seem like a realistic concert. I know it’s not the same as actually being there, but I could see something like that taking off since the artist could make a lot more money. Same with travel for people who can’t afford to go somewhere or don’t have the physical capabilities. I’m not trying to hype up the metaverse or get any confirmation bias, I’m just curious what innovative products, services, etc could come from it.
