Inflation in 1970s

So here comes inflationary forces that everyone is talking about, so I have a genuinely question.

In 1970s at the epitome of the inflation, I am wondering if there are big sales in retails throughout the year (like right now) except a few times such as X mas and Black Friday.

Like literally, I see a sign of 50% off discount whether it's in M stores or DKS, let alone COST or WMT, so I am starting to wonder if that's the same during 1970s' inflation, or it rarely had sales events with huge discount except X mas time.

Sure, unlike pre-pandemic that I could have always negotiated with dealership, let alone 10% discount used to be taken for granted, if you like the price haggling with car dealership, which is no longer the case, but I still see so many signs of discount, which makes me think inflationary forces are limited.

Just curious and if anyone can share their story how it used to be in 1970s, it would be great to compare and help to determine how long inflation will persist. Personally, I dont believe in inflation except a few goods.
