Increase of investors the past few years and annual rates of return for SPY and other indexes.


With more and more people having access and participating in the market the last few years due to the rise of commission free brokers and “other factors”, is it safe to say that higher annual returns for indexes like SPY are relatively normal compared to years past? Not saying that we should expect returns like the bull runs of the past couple years, but more than the last decade?
