If you had 5-10 min for diligence & filter out a stock for further analysis, what information would you first look at and find most useful ?

There are many things one could look at when analyzing a stock – right from financial statements, to sec filings, to recent news, to insider trades, to institutional holdings….. the list is humongous.

And many pieces of information may be helpful in many different strategies and styles of investing.

Given your general style (trading vs investing, short (a day to a few weeks) vs medium (few months) vs long (year and longer) period, shorting vs buying, etc), which is your preferred style and not one off cases, what would you look for in a stock if you were asked to do diligence in 5 – 10 min ?

If you could provide more context about your style, that would be great. for example you could mention –

“i prefer investing over trading. i invest for medium term. and if i had just 5 min to review, I would like to know these top 5-10 things about the stock –> A, B, C, D, E….”

Of course, 5-10 min of diligence may not be enough. But if that were to be used as a filter to go deeper into & further analyze a stock, what those few things about a stock would be for you ?
