I have built up a good amount in savings which is just gathering dust in a bank account. I want to invest and put some use to it.

Hi, as the title suggests I've been saving us for like a year or 2 to where I'm close to almost 30,000 pound.

However, it's just gathering dust in a bank account and it doesn't seem wise to just leave it there. I obviously don't intend to spend the whole lot but instead what I want is to perhaps invest a lil amount and maybe add onto it each month with the pay check.

However, as you might have noticed I have very little experience when it comes to these sorts of things. Where would be a good place for me to invest my money for somebody who has little experience or knowledge and with little risk or effort.

I guess a different way to phrase the question is what would you do in my situation?

It would be nice to actually be able to put my personal savings to use within the realm of common-sense obviously.
