HTZWW Warrants – ELI5 on what exactly they are?

Last year my Hertz shares were exchanged for 30 year Warrants under HTZWW. I only have a small position in this and haven't paid much attention to it. What exactly is a warrant, what is the benefit to having one redeemable up to 30 (well, 29) years out? How does a warrant function versus a stock? An ELI5 style primer on warrants would be very helpful.

My cost basis shows $9.83 per share.
