I don't have any position in SIVB (SVB Financial Group). But hypothetically, if you are short SIVB stock, the stock is still halted. How would those people cover their positions? There doesn't seem to be any indications of when it's stock trading will ever resume, or if it ever will.
Based on how short selling works, those people made a profit. But there is still a logistics issue here about how to cover the position and actually realize the profit. How is that normally resolved?
