How to pick stocks aiming on long term growth?

Hello everyone,

I have recently started my journey on learning the core ideas of investing.

However, most of the options that are not stocks tend to generate gains that barely beat the inflation.

As so, I was thinking about learning how to evaluate stocks to buy and hold for long periods of time, in an attempt to get better results without sacrificing much in terms of risk (if this is feasible).

Would you have any recommendations of materials that teach the best practices for succeeding at the “buy and hold” philosophy?
