I see people refer to FinViz, Yahoo, the 10-Q's, etc… I personally like to read some of the most recent conference call transcript and earnings report, but even after that, I still don't necessarily feel confident in what I learned. I look at P/E, try to read what analysts say so I can get a better understanding, but don't really have a solid approach to evaluate a company. The CC/ER might sound good to me, then I read a comment from someone who seems more knowledgeable completely destroy it, and the stock sells off.
How do you all approach this? Where do you look to get an average of analysts price targets? How do you find your own? So many questions…
For me it's easy to get overwhelmed with all the different data you can look at, how long should I expect to research before feeling comfortable? My free-time comes and goes, so ideally I'd like to take the “fastest” approach to this, while sacrificing a little bit of security.
TLDR: What's your process for evaluating a stock before you buy buy buy?! And how long does that take you?
