How do you avoid the surprise of some report coming out tomorrow you weren’t aware of?

These days especially, the market responds directly to news on its health in the form of various reports, be they for jobs, inflation, GDP, whatever. If you follow the news, it seems like every week you find out that in two days some big announcement or report you weren't aware was on the horizon is due to come out and effect your investing.

Is there any method, other than just reading news incessantly, to easily see when things like that are due to come up? Where do people get the information farther ahead of time when things are due to be reported? Is there some kind of calendar? You'd think at this point there would be some service which would allow you to look ahead three weeks and see what's due to be published in terms of market news, but it seems like I'm only ever a couple days ahead. How are you all dealing with this?
