How do publicly traded companies deal with quiet periods?


How does a public company attend conferences or trade shows where they discuss new information about future new products/new data/new research if the trade show or conference coincides with their pre-earnings quiet period? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of attending such trade show or conference? It's like why even go if you can't announce your new GTX1000 series laptop at the World Laptop Expo because earnings are in 1 week?
