I’m a bit confused on how exactly dividends work as I’m having trouble finding the whole answer online. So I see the dividend yield percentage and always assumed that if you had a 6% dividend yield that meant that over the course of the year, if it was monthly paid you would get 1/12th of that 6% paid each month over the year. The. If it was quarterly or annual it would be 1/4th or one single payment of the entire amount accordingly. Is that correct or is the 6% paid in full each time there’s a payment according to how often the stock pays?
