Hi all,
I'm new to investing and apologize if these questions are basic. I'm very interested in learning and have been buying index funds and some big tech every week. I keep reading on this sub that US Treasury bonds are giving/guaranteeing a high return right now and may even hit 7% annual.
– How can I buy these US treasury bonds? Is this the correct website? https://treasurydirect.gov/marketable-securities/treasury-bonds/
– How are US savings bonds different than treasury bonds? And are ppl referring to savings bonds or treasury bonds when they say it'll reach 7%?
https://treasurydirect.gov/savings-bonds/buy-a-bond/
Over there I see 2 types of bonds, Series EE Savings Bonds and Series I Savings Bonds, at 2.3 and 4.5% respectively.
– Does this mean if I buy a bond of 1000$, I will get 45$ a year for next ~30 years?
– Is this bond being referred to as going to reach 7% (from 4.5%)?
