Has anyone done a back test on the past 5-10 years to determine if buy and hold on fundamentally strong companies still hold true?

I’ve hunted down many fundamentally strong companies as of today’s world, and it seems like the prices of really good companies have been down for like 5 years at least. Whereas the growth stocks or even loss making unicorns seem to be having real fun (until they recently came back down to earth). Does it still work in today’s world, has the trend changed since Buffett first started investing?
