FTDs can someone please explain the cycle

There were approximately 4.4 million FTDs due today on one stock but today's volume was only 1.6 million.
So they is absolutely no way that the FTDs were closed.
Can someone explain what happens with these FTDs now ,do they go onto another T+ cycle after they've expired the T+35 cycle.

There is also 5+ million FTDs due everyday for the next 2 weeks when the free float is only 8.6ish million.

I got the data for the FTDs from chartexchange if that helps.
