I am currently looking to invest some of capitals that I have in chilean company which is listed in NYSE. I’ve searched the foreign tax rate and it’s listed @40%. I’ve pulled this info from PwC and I am wondering why capital gain tax is so high. Does this mean that when I make profit off the stock then I have to pay 40% tax? The tax rate is incredible and I am not sure if I am understanding it correctly. Anyone has any info?
