I have been staring at articles and various technical charts that basically are point at us being at the pivot point of either beginning good growth or things going downhill. (How vague!)

like this one talking about how several of these people don't forsee a recession.
I'm very curious if they have given any thought to the fact that we NEED a recession. If you look at the S&P 500 (https://imgur.io/a/yZjkS1r), things have been exponentially growing ever since we broke away from the gold standard, and regulating that growth to be gradual, in my non-finance mind is important in avoiding a runaway train like economy.
Has anyone else thought this way?
