ELI5 Apple’s share price is $145.93 with a diluted EPS of 1.29. Why would I risk ~$146 just to make less than a couple bucks?

I’m just using Apple as an example for most big stocks. It’s already one of the biggest Smartphone manufacturers with strong brand loyalty. I’m looking for a justification in regards to company earnings, not just that other people will buy the stock.
