Does the skillset learnt from day trading translate to other markets?

So do you have to start from zero to learn different styles, like the c-word trading, long term, forex etc?

Or if I put say 100 hrs into learning how to day trade, would I be able to transfer those skills learnt to other markets without having to go from the ground up? I get the basic principles will be the same throughout, but do the methods used in day trading work on longer time frames.
