ideally speaking, if you would have invested in 1988, lets say $10,000 you would have never seen that back until this year, or if you would have invested in 1989, it is yet to still recover (with the exception of dividends and if you were to keep putting money in the 225) Theoretically, it is yet to recover.
What are the chances of SP500 or even NYSE/NASDAQ doing the same thing with a high?
