Do share prices tend to shift a lot around large market events?

Let's take tech as an example. Let's say that Google is going to releases Gadget A, and there is tons of investor speculation about that. Google's stock should rise right?

That's a very simple example, but I'm also thinking of real life historical events like the release of the Stadia (I'm uncertain if that affected prices)

Or a non-tech example…let's take the movie Free Guy. It did well in the USA, would it's theatrical successes in other countries have an impact on 21th Century Studios stock?

While I don't believe in market timing per se, I do follow certain industries quite closely and would like to see if that knowledge can be utilized in picking stocks. “Buy what you know” (although Lynch also meant doing your due diligence and reading company material, of course)
