Conventional wisdom says you should invest in companies that you have had a quality, personal experience with. Should you short the others?

I'm curious to see what individual investors' experience have been with this. I'm tempted to short a couple of companies that I've had piss poor service through and/or perceive as poorly-managed (e.g. SATS).
