College student looking to invest and forget (maybe?)

I have about $3000 in a savings account, and I’m wondering if it is sensible to invest it so that I can essentially forget about it for several years. It will be a graduation gift to myself practically, which I can use to pay down loans.

Rather than paying down my student loans (at ~4% interest) I’m wondering if I should invest the money in some ETFs where it will grow at a faster rate than my interest grows.

Under my current loan plan, I will accrue roughly $3800 in interest (unless interest rates drastically change) under the time that payment is not required.

Is it dumb of me to try and invest the money I have currently? I’m wondering if I invest now and forget about it for 4 years if I will actually owe more money than if I paid off as much of the loans as I could.

Thank you!
