Charles Schwab Funds Proxy Vote Information – 2022

Its that time of year when every company, fund, and pyramid scheme has filled either your inbox with proxyvote.com invitations or your mailbox with enough dead paper to act as good firewood kindling come winter.

Now for some of us with don't just focus on our board members maximizing profits above all else, this is the time of year when we vote for nominees and shareholder proposals in line with our personal belief's. Or put simply, we put our money where our mouth.

In line with that, a heavy package of about 18 vote proxy's and their associated reports landed on my doorstep over the weekend (don't judge, the paper is good for making papier-mâché). Like a good shareholder, I researched my candidates for 2022. Here are my results to do with what you may:

  1. Walter W. Bettinger II – Works very hard to avoid news reports. Donates exclusively to the Charles Schwab PAC and nowhere else so he doesn't show up on donation lists personally. Has been seen attending fund raising events for Mitch McConnel. Has avoided answering questions about his support for Josh Hawley after 1/6/20. Is rumored to have donated to the Conservative Dark Money PAC Americans for Job Security through shell companies.
  2. Richard A. Wurster – A recent Schwab hire, he only joined the company in 2016, and has already traveled from Associate to President as of 2021. Like Walt above he works hard to donate more to Dark Money pools than organizations that disclose donations. Like a good C- Suite exec he donated to the Charles Schwab PAC for $10k in the 2020 cycle. Rumored support includes Kyrsten Sinema and David Purdue.
  3. Robert W. Burns – No Information Located
  4. Nancy F. Heller – Does not appear to have donated to any American PAC's.
  5. David L Mahoney – Donates heavily to Democratic candidates directly and donates to the ActBlue PAC, and may be connected to the founders of the ActBlue PAC (Appears to share a good deal of personal and professional connection with that organizations founders)
  6. Jane P. Moncrieff – Not a US citizen. Does not appear to have donated to any American PAC's.
  7. Kiran M. Patel – Known donations include Mitt Romney's presidential campaign. He also gives regularly to Intuit's company PAC, who's largest donations have gone to Kyrsten Sinema
  8. Kimberly S. Patmore – Last donated $500 to the First Data Corp PAC in the 2005-2006 election cycle. No donations in the last decade. Political affiliation unclear.
  9. J. Derek Penn – No donations located. Known to advocate for reductions in executive pay via Proxy Votes for companies that do not diversify.
  10. Michael J. Beer – No Information Located.
