Stock noob here so please forgive my innocence. Here in the UK especially: household bills have doubled, inflation is at an all time high, and we are technically in a recession…but the s&p500 is up ≈9% in the past month and the ftse 100 is still climbing close to pre pandemic levels.
Can someone explain why this is, as surely uncertainty & recession would cause a dip in the market (as it has done historically) ?
