Bullish case for stocks – Revenues falling but earnings remain flat (or fall only a little)

Would it be a bullish case for the stocks. Since the coming recession is very much anticipated for more than a year, the companies might cut their expenses including cutting of labor force, so despite the fact that their revenues will definitely fall in the next few quarters, their earnings might not fall that much.

Dos this have any sense or I am tripping?
