Best brokerages for new investors?

Hey everyone. I am a long time lurker in this sub who has finally shook off the nerves of taking the plunge of investing. I’m not here to ask what stocks I should invest in, or “when” I should invest. I see post like that all the time, but I’m pretty confident in my ability to pick stocks for my portfolio, and I understand that time in the market is what is important for long term investing. I know of some of the more popular brokerages, but my question is which are the most “beginner friendly”? Robinhood seemed like a good starting point for awhile, but they really scared me off with all of their shenanigans that I probably don’t need to remind anyone of. What are the entry/annual costs of working with a stock brokerage if any? And what should I be concerned with or look out for? My goal is to just start putting my money somewhere better than the bank. All advice or direction is appreciated!
