Anything “wrong” with holding o to bad performing stocks and waiting for them to bounce back? Even if it takes 5+ year?

Playing around with buying random stocks and learning some hard lessons. Things like NIO, NVidia, Baba dipped big. Anything wrong with just waiting ten years for them to bounce back?

I know one theory is accent the loss and invest in something better or expected to gain more than the underperforming stock. I just can’t let myself go to sell. I’d rather see the stock go back to a wash.
