Hi,
My girlfriend (soon to be wife hopefully) had to roll over a few investment accounts in the last few months and now finds she a lot of cash on the sidelines. She has invested some of it, but is asking me for advice on where to put the rest.
She makes around $120K/year.
She has around $2600 in a Roth IRA where she has:
$1000 in cash
2 shares of COIN
1 share NVDA
1 share TGT
4 shares RRR
2 share DIS
5 shares ASO
1 share META
1 share COF
2 shares WYNN
She has around $27K in a former employer 401K which she is going to leave.
She has around $8500 in the current employer 401K – which she is leaving obviously.
She has another $40K in checks and savings.
The question is what do to with the $69K she has in the rollover IRA. $56K is in cash in addition to the following investments in that account:
$1400 in FBGRX
$1490 in FZILX
$1000 in FITLX
$1500 in FZROX
$1100 in FMEIX
$1000 in FPURX
$1500 in FXAIX
$520 in FVAL
$2500 in FARMX
Given the small balance in the Roth and what she bought so far I am thinking that can be an account for speculative plays.
The advice she is seeking is where and how to invest the remaining money in the rollover IRA.
She has basically asked me to just do whatever I think it right with it but I don’t feel comfortable doing that.
In addition to doing research the last few months on my own, I figured I would post here to see if there was any insight I could take back to her and we could research together.
My idea was to invest in mainly Fidelity mutual funds with lower expense ratios (some of the zero funds) or Fidelity index funds. Maybe some ETFs?
I know there is a little bit of overlap in the investments in some of the ones she is already in.
I am hoping to have her invest in a few more to cover the whole spectrum. I am getting too caught up in the range of ‘mid-cap value’ and ‘large cap growth’ funds thinking she should get the best in each category.
This money is going to stay invested for the next 20-30 years.
Thanks for any input.
