Hi everyone! Took some big risks and started investing in Aug of 2020- so only 26 months.
All time – I’m up 73% ( profit of $29.2 K)
This year – I’m down 28%, (27K loss)
I’m putting offers on 2 homes tomorrow but will only buy 1 house. Each is 10% DP (28-30k). Aside from my investment account, I have $54K saved in cash. This leaving me with about $20K after closing costs if I don’t sell my portfolio
Do I sell off my portfolio and feel proud of the earnings in 2 years or do I wait and hope it recovers- nearly doubling the portfolio?
I’m pretty conservative and like to play it safe. Im a single female earning $92K and will be soley responsible for the house. All expenses to maintain my lifestyle will be $3-3.5K per month but obviously money is need for closing costs, furniture and emergency repairs or replacement. I want to be patient but having the $70k total (investment+profit) liquid would make me feel much more secure. I’m an avid saver and haven’t had only $20K in about 5 year.
I also have saved $130k in 401Ks but my state doesn’t offer programs to borrow that money.
