A question about SIRI and its tracking stock merger

To preface this, I have little actual experience past three years of slowly investing.
I became aware of the merger, and SIRI looked attractive to me at first because it’s something I could afford to invest in. I am aware, now, that the tracking stock will turn into the new stock at a rate of 8.4 per 1. However I have already sunk money into the SIRI stock and to sell it now and switch up would be a loss.
My main question is just how bad did I bungle preparing for this merger? Is this even a position I could stand to make any gains on?
