UK Investors – Currency Worries Buying US Stocks?

I'm based in the UK, and often invest in US stocks. However, the past month alone, the US dollar has increased 6% against the pound, presumably as investors shift to the 'safe dollar'.

This makes it much more expensive investing in US stocks.

I know that it is often said that returns tend to flatten out currency shifts, but I do question this sometimes!

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Especially anyone in the UK?

I invest in the S&P, and individual tech stocks. (Because I love losing dat money!) … I do also invest in international and hedged stocks denoted in £, but there aren't too many options, and much of it connects back to the dollar ultimately anyway.
