Most retail investors cannot afford to NOT take the risk on investing in crypto because of what it represents.

I want to make 2 disclaimers; one is that I have a very small position of my portfolio in Bitcoin; and the second is that I don’t believe that 95+% of crypto currencies will succeed.

With that out of the way, I’m making this post to make the case that many of you, along with most retail investors, cannot afford to NOT take at least some small risk in investing in a solid cryptocurrency.

The crypto market is completely revolutionizing finance by democratizing it. If you ask any legitimate person in crypto, they tell you they invest in crypto not to chase hype and not to see huge returns, but because they believe switching to this system of finance takes power away from large institutions and restores it to the global population. This is very comparable to how the internet democratized information and communication. The state where the crypto market is now, is where the internet was in the 80s and 90s

It isn’t going away. Bitcoin isn’t going away, etherium isn’t going away, the technology they are founded on isn’t going away. It may take years even decades, but this change IS coming. Right now it’s a collective “smoothing out the kinks” period.

People dunk on cryptos because they see a bunch of meme coins , or because they see Bitcoin down from nearly 70k. Yet they don’t seem to care that the dollar has essentially had been devalued ~20% since 2020 and will probably get worse as the US financial system gets worse. They don’t seem to care the second country in the world has adopted Bitcoin as an acceptable currency.

I think it is not as dumb of a take as many seem to say it is to at least have a small position in a solid crypto currency. I suspect what will eventually happen is that Bitcoin will become the equivalent to gold, and it will be used to back another set of crypto currencies that are better used for everyday transactions. I also suspect that there will not be one crypto currency in use but many that are used for different facets of life and industries.

You all see a word where automation, genomics, clean energy, and virtual reality are a real possibility. What makes decentralized, democratized finance such an improbable meme?
