Is it a good strategy to only sell a certain percentage of your total shares every time you decide to take profit, if it's in a stock you believe still has greater potential down the road? The purpose would be to lock in some profit in case it also happens to go back down.
For instance, I've only been able to do this a few times but every time something I own goes up 75% I sell 37.5% of the total amount of shares I own.
Would this be consider too soon and/or too much?
I've only been trying my hand at this for about a year now. Any advice would be appreciated.
