Tracking Real-time Sentiment Trends for Stocks

Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to share a useful tool to screen for new investment or trading opportunities based on social sentiment trends. The Social Sentiment Dashboard allows you to track the top trending stocks across Twitter and Stocktitws, and Google Trends

This is useful because if there is strong retail momentum behind a stock we usually see an increase in volume and price action.

Tracking Mechanics

  • The algorithm pulls data from multiple social platforms. For Twitter, we use the Twitter API. It looks at tweets, comments, likes, and impressions.
  • The change in these metrics is displayed as well as the underlying posts that feed the dashboard, so you can drill into the individual tweets for transparency and sentiment purposes.
  • There is also tracking for Stocktwits – though Twitter usually has the largest reach.
  • Google Trends is interesting because it is a good proxy for the overall interest of a company or stock.

Trending Overview – Change in Tweets, Comments, Likes, and Impressions.

For the metrics listed in the section Social Sentiment Metrics: Selecting a Metric for the Dashboard there are three options to select from, and we will use Posts as an example:

  1. Posts – the number of posts for the selected timeframe
  2. Posts Previous – the number of posts for the previously selected timeframe
  3. Posts Change – the change in the number of posts from the previous timeframe to the currently selected timeframe

The metric value, previous metric value, and change in metric value are available for Posts, Comments, Likes, Impressions, Sentiment, 10K Followers, 100K Followers, and 500K Followers. Here is a detailed guide on how to use the dashboard

Hopefully, you find this useful. Check it out and let me know what you think, and also consider following our sub r/utradea to stay up to date with the latest releases.
