Chips lead to decline of Japanese auto giant?

[Honda plans to halve production at a Japanese factory and two production lines in early May] Honda Motor (HMC.N) said on April 21 that due to chip shortages and epidemic prevention and control, it plans to cut two production lines at a Japanese factory in early May. Production is reduced by about 50%. Honda's plant in Suzuka, Japan, will also cut production in half in April, having previously announced it would cut output by about a third. A factory in Saitama prefecture will also cut output by a third in April but plans to resume normal operations in early May. Honda said the ongoing shortage of semiconductors and the uncertain geopolitical situation caused delays in the delivery of parts.

Previously, it was also reported that Toyota had cut production due to a lack of chips. At the same time, energy electric vehicles are also a major reason for the sharp drop in sales of fuel vehicles.
