Tesla : The beginning of a bullrun?
So, what do we know so far, coming into this EC :
BAD NEWS :
SHanghai fatory was closed for 2 days => estimated 8k vehicles not delivered
Supply chain constraints : like all the other car manufacturers, lithium, nickel, copper and other metal shortages continue to be a problem, i don’t see it getting better before end q2, beginning q3 2022
Its to the point the CEO is saying they will go into the mining business
(I feel like a broken record with this one)War in Russia, covid lockdowns, and inflation for materials needed:
Despite it looking pretty bad, i think the key metric we have to look at is the number of cars delivered.
It was 310 000at the beginning of April. A record that will undoubtedly, yes, undoubtedly be beaten with the gigafactories in Texas and Berlin working at full capacity
This is for me the biggest worry : the close of the Shanghai factory in march and now until april. Is this old news ? Do you think this is already priced in ? The drop in price today makes me think that it is.
GOOD NEWS :
Open of 2 new gigafactories in Berlin and Texas
As of today, the shanghai factory is back in business and working in closed loop to prevent further shutdown
Tesla beat their record of EVs delivered despite allll those headwinds. This for me is the biggest bullish news. They managed to maintain their deliveries and even accelerate on the number of cars delivered despite all those hurdles. Imagine what they can do when everything runs smoothly
Musk will provide a roadmap update on this earnings call
