Wash sale rule questions

I am a bit confused about the wash sale rule, specifically about the 30 days prior part, and when I can realize my losses.

Let’s say I’ve been buying VTI for the last 30 days, at 1 share a day.

Due to the current uncertainty of market conditions, I want to full stop, and sell the last 30% of my VTI holdings (that I’ve purchased in the last 10 days), to cut my losses.

I understand the wash sale rule kicks in, I can’t claim the loss for the sale, since, the day before I sold, I purchased 1 share of VTI (further, the entire LOT that I sold, 1 day before that LOT was purchased, I purchased another share 1 days ago (11 days ago from today).

Let’s say I stop investing from this point on. At what point can I actually realize this loss from selling? Surely I sold 30% at a loss, I should be allowed to deduct it somewhere right? Or is that loss gone forever due to the wash sale rule kick in? (which doesn’t seem right).

I understand the 30 day after part (that I shouldn't purchase the same), but confused about the 30 day prior part, and how that plays into the equation.

Thanks!
