Is it smart for a younger investor to invest in dividend stocks?

I’m 23 and looking to start investing, i’ve always been fascinated by dividend portfolios. The idea of investing enough money to where your dividend returns are eventually able to cover your living expenses is cool and something I’d want to do down the road, but i’m curious if it would be smarter to invest in dividend stocks now (with dividends reinvested) or if i should invest in other things while i’m still young and can take extra risk to prioritize growth & then when it’s closer to retirement time swap those holdings out into dividend stocks . What would you do? what should I be focusing on now
