Just my theory, but in my opinion Buffet does not try to time the market and there isn't anything glaringly wrong with the company, and he already had a massive amount in cash, so why sell?
Personally I think he did it for his successor. Buffet is 94, and when he passes (hopefully man years from now) all eyes will be on his successor to the changes he makes. And if that man sells Apple at some point in the future he will be greatly criztied for trimming one of Buffet's largest holdings. He is leaving him a large cash fund to be able to buy the companies he wants and not be critiqued for having to liquidate Buffet and Mungers previous picks.
What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts on why he sold and why is has the largest cash position ever ?
