A No-Options Strategy
Wondering what the consensus is on profitability when trading without any use of options, derivatives, futures, currency swaps, etc. for short-to-medium term trading (no or extremely minimal day trading).
I've been told by others to use options, but I think most would agree it's not good to jump into something like that with very minimal knowledge going into it. I learn differently, and might have a learning disorder that I've masked all my life. For me to incorporate options, I'd need to fully comprehend the ins and outs to be comfortable, and for me that would require one-on-one time with someone that could explain things in a way that I understand, which isn't what others have traditionally done when attempting. (And simply reading online isn't sinking in)
Knowing that my chances of learning options enough to execute on them is pretty much zero, I'm wondering how much are the odds are stacked against me if only trading equities and bonds? (Know that I don't have grand expectations of triple digit returns, just talking about staying profitable enough to make it worth the time spent).
