What mining stocks are a safe long term bet?

Tbh so far I’ve only ever invested in tech, and it’s good returns but I’ve been wondering about diversifying into other industries. Energy and mining comes to mind. Was considering copper mining. Not sure if that’s a good idea. Any context would be helpful such as the following

• barriers to entry for different energy sources and whether that creates monopolies, oligopolies and how it impacts long term growth, which the best ones are

• different country’s individual energy sectors

• which to avoid

• any tech or economic breakthroughs expected in these sectors

• any humanitarian concerns? I know cobalt is a big ethical no because of what’s happening in Congo

I know it’s an incredibly general list but I’d appreciate any starting points as I have no clue about this area of investing. I will probably not invest for at least a few months until I have more knowledge
