Does it make sense to buy individual tech stocks like MSOFT while also buying VOO ETF?

Is there any body of evidence to support buying both individual stocks and the underlying etf at the same time? I currently own VOO and also many of the big capped tech stocks like MSOFT and APPL. I wonder if this strategy makes sense. Thanks
