Both Initial and Continuing jobless claims increase, beating expectations


Initial Jobless Claims in the United States increased to 231 thousand in the week ending November 11 of 2023 from 218 thousand in the previous week. Initial Jobless Claims in the United States averaged 366.10 Thousand from 1967 until 2023, reaching an all time high of 6137 Thousand in April of 2020 and a record low of 162 Thousand in November of 1968

Continuing Jobless Claims in the United States increased to 1865 thousand in the week ending November 4 of 2023 from 1833 thousand in the previous week. Continuing Jobless Claims in the United States averaged 2767.79 Thousand from 1967 until 2023, reaching an all time high of 23130 Thousand in May of 2020 and a record low of 988 Thousand in May of 1969
